ROAD BIKERS

Good luck to road bikers Dave Morgan, Todd Christensen, Bryan Johnson, Heather Fisher, Kenny O’Connell, and Jared and Orion Fisher (tandem), who are all doing LOTOJA on September 6.  This is the longest, hardest, one day USCF road race in the country, going 206 miles and 12k’ elevation, from Logan Utah to Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  You can do it!

Also, the Mt. Charleston Hill Climb is this Saturday, put on by our friends on the Red Burro Team.  Come join Kenny, Heather, Bryan, and Orion for a fun ride up the hill.

RUNNERS and WALKERS

The Mountain’s Edge Candlelighter’s 5k FUN RUN & WALK is coming soon!  Our very own Ed Wilson is the poster child on the advertisements!

Sign up now (under the Mountain’s Edge Team name, with Team Captain, Kendra) and start training.  It’s just 3 weeks away.  There is 5k competitive race, as well as a 5k and 1 mile fun run and walk for all ages, including kids.

Call DeEtte and get a free team shirt if you sign up by Sept. 1.  Also, find out about local running and walking groups and training plans.

Running info: DeEtte 448-4500

TRIATHLETES

Good luck to Jared, Kurt, and Regan on the Lake Las Vegas Triathlon this weekend!  This is Kurt’s first tri.  He and Regan are in the husband/wife race category.  So cool!  Our friends Dom and Chris from Sunset Racing are hosting this race at beautiful Lake Las Vegas.

Also, it’s time to start training for the Pumpkinman on October 18.  Just 8 weeks away!  I know of 6 people from our team doing it so far.  Call for more info. or training plans if you’re interested.  It has everything from a mini tri to relays to an Olympic distance and half ironman.  I am also getting a swimming group together to work on technique with a coach.  Sign up soon, before this race sells out.

Clark County is doing a Junior Triathlon (455-7798) for kids ages 6-13 on Sept. 27 at Desert Breeze.  It’s right by the soccer field so our kids always do it right before their games.

MOUNTAIN BIKERS

This is very exciting.  Our Mountain’s Edge Team is hosting one of the most famous mountain bike races of all time!

On September 19-21, the Cactus Cup is going to be held right here in Mountain’s Edge!

There will be lots to see and do with professional athletes from around the globe, activities, races, autograph signings, a festival, races and activities for locals, beginners, amateurs, & kids. There will be downhill, kid, and crit races at Exploration Peak Park and a cross country race in Red Rock.

We are the host team so we need lots of helpers and racers.  Check out all the press this is getting.  This is a very exciting event to be a part of and the biggest one for our team!  Talk to Matt Child if you or your family and friends can participate or help in any way.
